Internet, today is my birthday! 3 years ago (seems like yesterday!) I got to celebrate in NYC with my best friend. The last two years have been low-key but nice celebrations at home with the hubs and family.
This year JT outdid himself. For my birthday, he’s buying me a house. And that house will be in Phoenix, Arizona.
Yep, you read that right. That’s my awkward way of telling you guys that we’re moving! JT got a great opportunity with his work and we are relocating. I am still processing all that is going on (we’re on a crazy short timeline to make it down there) and it is definitely a little bittersweet. Both of our immediate family live in STL (parents and siblings) and we hope they will come visit us in the desert. We have such good friends here as well . . .
Long story short, our next house will be for entertaining. I’m excited to pick it out and share a little bit of the journey with you guys on the internet. For now, my apologies if posts are a bit sparse and scraggly. See you on the flip side!
Cheers – CT
Happy birthday CT! Have a great one, and I hope this next year is one of the very best so far as you guys embark on your exciting journey to the southwest. I’ll looking forward to seeing my guest room;)
Thanks Jess! Maybe I will put a chandelier in the guest room, just for you.
Congratulations to JT on the job opportunity…and to you for getting to pick out a new house for your birthday. I hope it’s a happy one. The house AND the birthday!!! 🙂
Thanks Dana! Phoenix seems to have a lot of MCM opportunities so that’s my dream for our next house. Cheers – CT
WOW! Such big news and a BIG HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! Congrats to you both on the new job and all that it brings. Don’t lie… it’s gonna make for some fabulous blogging material. HA HAHA! Yes, yes, find you a little mid-century place to put your stamp on. It’s going to be so much fun!!!!!
Thanks Stacey! There’s definitely a lot of blog fodder in the works, the problem is finding the time to actually blog about it (first world problems, right). I’m excited for a new house but a little sad about all the things that I wanted to do to this house but didn’t get around to. Hopefully the new owners (don’t have them yet, but in theory) will take the torch and run with it. Cheers – CT
Congrats on the big move! When’s it coming? Can’t wait to see the new place.
Hey Nick – we’re not 100% nailed down on dates but it looks like we’ll be traveling around the end of October. Which ironically is when we moved into our first apartment and also this house. It’s that time of year!
Wow! Big change. Good luck with the move. May it go ever so smoothly. You aren’t that far from Vegas and they have some amazing retro shops. On the bright side.
Rebecca – I’m definitely excited for exploring so many new shops, restaurants, museums, concert venues, you name it. Your post on the Rose Bowl made me realize I could do that in a weekend trip. So many plans! Also, a trip to LA to see the Eames House. Cheers – CT
Congrats on the big news, but I’m sorry to see you go – which seems funny since we’ve never met in person. What a big change. Exciting, but nerve wracking I’m sure.
Thanks Kristin! I do enjoy all the blog friends I’ve made and I consider you one of them. We’re excited for Arizona but sad to leave STL. Since we still have our parents and some siblings living here, we’ll be back to visit but it probably won’t be for a while. It will be fun to see the city change and evolve over the years with a different perspective. In high school I lived out in West County and even now when I go out there sometimes I get lost because the roads get widened or new shopping/strip malls get built…. and oddly enough, I think we may end up in the “west county” of Phoenix. Not what I had planned but then again, neither was moving to Arizona! Cheers – CT
